Building the Right Fire Station 1 for Westwood’s Future

The Town of Westwood and the Fire Station 1 Steering Committee are in the process of a new approach to replace the aging Fire Station 1, located at 637 High Street. Our goal is to provide updates and information to help keep Westwood residents informed about the project.

WHERE WE ARE NOW – UPDATED JULY 27TH

The Fire Station 1 Steering Committee continues to evaluate the three finalist sites for a new Fire Station 1.

At its July 27th meeting, the Committee reviewed updated conceptual site plans, site advantages and disadvantages, and preliminary order-of-magnitude cost estimates for each of the three locations under consideration. The presentation materials from the July 27th meeting are available here.

The Committee is seeking community feedback as it works toward selecting a preferred site. Residents are encouraged to review the project materials and complete the community survey, which is available HERE. The survey will remain open through Tuesday, August 4th, 2026.

Survey results will be considered alongside technical analyses, operational requirements, financial information, environmental considerations, project risks, and other factors as the Committee evaluates the three sites.

The Fire Station 1 Steering Committee is expected to make a recommendation on its preferred site at its August 7th meeting.

The Three Proposed Sites

The FS1 Steering Committee identified three locations for feasibility and schematic design study:
